Ride A Pet Beginner's Guide: Your First Session

Just joined Ride A Pet and not sure what to do? This guide takes you through your first session, one step at a time. You start with $50. You'll spend it on the Advanced Radar, find and hatch your first rare egg, put pets on your ranch to earn cash, and then make your first Hatch Luck and food buys. The tutorial banner at the top of the screen names the next step, so you can check each step against it.

How the game works

Ride A Pet has one simple loop:

1. Ride your pet around the map to find eggs.
2. Plant the eggs and hatch them into new pets.
3. Place up to 5 pets on your ranch. Each one earns cash every second ($/s).
4. Spend that cash on Hatch Luck for better eggs, and on food to level up your pets so they earn more.

That's the whole game. Rarer, faster pets help you find rarer eggs, and the loop keeps going.

Tip: Look at the tutorial banner at the top of the screen. It tells you the next step, such as 'Go To Gear Shop'.

Step 1: ride your pet to the Gear Shop

Riding is faster than walking, so get on your pet first.

1. Stand next to your pet on your ranch plot.
2. Click the yellow Ride Pet button, or press E.
3. Ride to the Gear Shop. It's the blue-and-white striped stall.

When you want to get off, click the red Dismount button.

Step 2: buy the Advanced Radar and find a rare egg

The Advanced Radar costs $50. That's all your starting cash.

1. At the Gear Shop, find the Buy Advanced Radar panel.
2. Click the green $50 button.
3. Press 1 to equip the radar from hotbar slot 1.
4. Click Use Radar.
5. Follow the 'Find Rare Egg Xm Away' marker to the egg and pick it up.

Step 3: plant and hatch your egg

1. Go back to your own plot, inside your fence, while holding the egg.
2. Click the ground to plant it.
3. Wait for it to grow. If you don't want to wait, click Skip Growth.
4. Pick up the hatched pet. It appears in your hotbar with its KG.
5. Open the pet panel and click Place Best.

KG matters a lot. Heavier pets earn far more cash. A Panda can make $112 to $142 per second, but a Snail only makes $3 per second.

Step 4: place pets for passive cash

After the radar, your cash is gone, so get pets earning right away.

1. If you're riding, click Dismount first. You can't place a pet while riding.
2. Select a pet in your hotbar.
3. Click an empty dirt spot inside your own ranch fence.
4. Repeat until the counter reads 5/5.
5. Open the pet panel and click Place Best to keep your top earners on the ranch.

Your ranch holds 5 pets. If you click to place a sixth, you'll see 'Max 5/5 On Ranch'. Use Place Best or Unequip a weak pet instead.

Good news: your pets keep earning while you're offline. Cash builds up even when you aren't playing.

Step 5: collect eggs on the ranch

Eggs also appear on the dirt around the ranch, such as the White Egg. Grab them while you wait for cash.

1. Click Ride Pet to get on.
2. Ride to the eggs on the dirt.
3. Press E, or click Hatch on the egg prompt.
4. Click Dismount when you're done.

Eggs and shops restock about every 5 minutes, so check back often.

Step 6: buy your first Hatch Luck levels

Hatch Luck improves the eggs you get. The first levels are very cheap, so buy them early.

1. Walk to the green Hatch Luck board (it has a clover) next to your ranch.
2. Check your cash in the green counter at the bottom left.
3. Click the green price button. The first level costs $5, and the next costs $15.
4. Stop when the button goes dark or 'Not Enough Cash' appears.

Later levels cost more, rising by about $110 each time. Walk away, let your pets earn, and come back when you can afford the next one. For the full details, see Ride A Pet Hatch Luck Explained: Costs and Multipliers.

Step 7: make your first food purchase

Food gives your pets XP so they level up and earn more.

1. Walk to the red-and-white striped Food stand.
2. When the shopkeeper asks 'Need food to feed your pets?', click Yup.
3. If you're low on cash, Grass is cheap at $10.
4. When you can afford it, Bone costs $1,500 and gives a pet +10,000 XP.
5. Close the shop with the red X at the top right.

To feed a pet, dismount inside your pen, hold the food in your hotbar, and click Feed under your best pet in the pet panel. Food stock is limited, so you may see NO STOCK until the next restock. To learn more, read How to Level Up Pets Fast in Ride A Pet (Bone and Food).

Left-side menu buttons

On the left of the screen you'll find buttons including:

• Rebirth
• Index
• Shop

You don't need them for your first session. Just follow the tutorial banner first.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Dismount first. You can't place a pet while riding, and the feed buttons are harder to reach.
• Stay inside your own fence. The ranches next to yours belong to other players.
• Read the button before clicking. In the pet panel, a card's button can change from Feed to Unequip.
• Watch your cash. Hatch Luck and food buys use up cash fast.
• Don't click the Roblox logo at the top left. It takes you out of the game.

How to rejoin if you leave by accident

If you end up on the Roblox Home page, nothing you click there will work in the game. To get back in:

1. Click the search icon at the top right of the Roblox Home page.
2. Search for [⚡] Ride A Pet.
3. Join the game.
