What Everything Costs in the BedWars Item and Upgrade Shops

Checked in-game 4 Oct 2026 Updated 5 Oct 2026

In BedWars, every match is a race to spend your iron, diamonds and emeralds well. Iron comes from your team generator. Diamonds and emeralds come from the generators on the mid islands, and your team crate can also hold diamonds. This page puts the known Item Shop and Upgrade Shop prices in one table, with a short note on when each item is worth buying. Use it to plan your next trip to the shopkeeper before you even get there.

The full price table

The Item Shop has three sections: Combat, Blocks and Tools. The Upgrade Shop sells team upgrades that you pay for with diamonds.

Item Shop section Cost When it's worth buying
Stone Sword Combat 20 Iron A cheap early buy, and it doesn't downgrade
Iron Sword Combat 70 Iron As soon as you can. It doesn't downgrade either
Diamond Sword Combat 4 Emerald Your first emerald buy. Drops to Iron Sword when you die
Emerald Sword Combat 20 Emerald Late game. Drops to Diamond Sword when you die
Leather Armor Combat 50 Iron First thing to buy in most matches
Iron Armor Combat 120 Iron Save up for this after your sword
Diamond Armor Combat 8 Emerald Strong mid-game buy. Drops a tier when you die

About White Wool: the shop tile shows "8 Iron for x16". That means 16 blocks for 8 Iron, so it's the same deal however it's written. Prices can change in Friday updates, so always check the tile before you buy.

How to buy from the Item Shop

  1. Stand on your Team Generator to collect iron.
  2. Walk to the Item Shop NPC and press F to open it.
  3. Check your Iron, Diamond and Emerald counts at the top right of the shop.
  4. Click an item tile. This only selects it.
  5. Click the green Purchase button at the bottom of the left panel.
  6. Close the shop by clicking outside the panel.

If the button turns red and says Not Enough, you can't afford it yet. Go and collect more instead of clicking again. A grey Purchased button means you already own that tier.

After buying, close the shop and check your hotbar shows the new sword

Best opening buys with iron

Your first iron should go on survival and building:

  1. Leather Armor for 50 Iron.
  2. Stone Sword for 20 Iron, or the Iron Sword for 70 Iron if you have enough.
  3. White Wool for 8 Iron. Buy a few stacks so you can bridge to the mid islands.
  4. Then save up for Iron Armor at 120 Iron.
Each White Wool purchase gives you 16 blocks for 8 iron
Each White Wool purchase gives you 16 blocks for 8 iron

The Stone Sword and Iron Sword never downgrade. That makes them safe buys, even if you die a lot early on.

Emerald gear and death drops

Diamond and Emerald swords and armour cost emeralds, not diamonds. When you die, each of these tiers drops by one:

  • Emerald Sword drops to Diamond Sword.
  • Diamond Sword drops to Iron Sword.
  • Swords never drop below what you bought with iron.

Armour and swords work as tiered tiles. After you buy one tier, the same tile moves on to the next one. Just click Purchase again to keep climbing.

Because these tiers drop when you die, spend emeralds when you're about to fight, not right before a risky bridge. The BedWars Armor & Sword Tiers: Costs, Damage and Downgrades guide covers this in more detail.

Spending diamonds in the Upgrade Shop

The Upgrade Shop NPC stands next to the Item Shop. Press E to open it (F may also work). Pick a card you can afford and click UPGRADE. A feed message tells you when the upgrade went through.

As well as Bed Alarm (2 diamonds) and Bed Barrier (5 diamonds), these Tier 1 costs are known:

  • Diamond Gen T1: 3 diamonds
  • Break Speed T1: 3 diamonds
  • Team Gen T1: 4 diamonds
  • Armor T1: 4 diamonds
  • Damage T1: 5 diamonds

Don't forget to empty your Team Crate and Personal Chest. Walk up, press F and click the diamonds to take them.
