In Chop A Forest, cutting a tree down is only half the job. The logs don't go anywhere until you pick them up, and your coins only really grow once you can haul 50 logs at a time in a truck. This guide takes you through your first run in order. You'll grab free gems in the lobby, chop and sell your first logs, buy things in the right order and sell your first full truckload. You'll also see which buttons cost Robux, so you never press one by mistake.
Grab your free gems before you start
The lobby has free gems waiting, so collect them before you jump into a run.
- From spawn (the START A RUN board), walk left to the REWARDS hut.
- Stand on the glowing blue DAILY REWARD pad.
- A '+N gems! Day X reward' popup appears. The pad then reads 'Next in ...h', so you know when to come back.
Day 1 gives 25 gems and day 2 gives 35 gems, so it pays to come back each day. Joining the game's group also gives a one-time 100 gems.
If the game feels laggy, click the Potato toggle at the top left. It switches to low graphics.
Three things you should never click
Learn these before you start chopping. They're the easy ways to open a Robux prompt by mistake:
- Key 3. That hotbar slot is the Trial Saw (5 min), and it asks for 25 Robux. Use 1 (fist) and 2 (axe) only.
- Rainbow BUY buttons. In shops, the rainbow button is the Robux price. The coin price is on a different button.
- The Infinite Bag at the Backpack stump. It costs Robux, so skip it and buy the coin tiers instead.
If a Robux window opens by accident, close it with the X.
Get into the forest
- Walk to the party pads with THE FOREST signs.
- Step onto an OPEN pad, or onto a pad that already has a party. A pad with a party starts the countdown straight away.
- Stay on the pad while 'Teleporting in N...' counts down. A party holds up to 4 players.
- You load into the forest. Your quest tracker sits at the top left.
From here, the quest tracker and the yellow guide line on the ground show you where to go next. If you're not sure where something is, follow the line.
Chop your first tree and pick up the logs
Your first quest is 'Punch a tree down', so you start with your fist (slot 1). Once you buy the Axe, it goes into slot 2.

Press 2 to equip the axe once you own it. Slot 1 is the fist.

Walk right up to an Oak or Birch trunk until its name and HP bar show. Clicks only land while that bar is showing, so keep your crosshair in the centre of the trunk.
- Click over and over in the same spot until TIMBER! appears. Every hit pays a few coins straight away.
- Felling a tree gives you no logs by itself. Aim at each dropped block until CLICK / E PICK UP shows, then click or press E. Each click takes one block.
- Watch the backpack counter at the bottom left. It starts at 5. When it's full you can't pick up any more, so go and sell.
Sell at the chipper and collect the coins
- Follow the yellow line to the SELL LOGS sign ($1 PER LOG). It stands next to the cabin, the Tool Shop and the orange Timber Chomp chipper.
- Stand on the DROP LOGS pad and click the 'CLICK SELL $X' or 'Quick Sell' prompt.
- Don't walk off yet. The chipper throws coins out after a sale. Walk around its side (not the feed opening) to pick them up.
Sales also give a few gems. Pick up any blue gem drops you see on the ground too.
The buy order that keeps you moving
The tutorial quests run in this order: punch a tree, pick up the logs, sell, buy an upgrade, then save up for the Axe, the Backpack and a truck. Buy things in this order:
- Hold (Upgrades menu)
- Axe: 150 coins
- Backpack: $175 (15 slots)
- Rusty Runabout: 500 (carries 50 logs)
- Farmhand Pickup: 2,800 (carries 75)
- Backpack: $750
- Timber Flatbed: 6,500 (carries 100)
Hold. Press TAB or click the green UPGRADES button on the right. Under Hands, pick Hold (it's $20 or free) and click BUY. The card shows OWNED. Close the menu with the red X. Now you can hold the mouse button down instead of clicking every swing.
Axe. Walk into the TOOL SHOP cabin. Go to the AXE display on the wall and hold E on the View prompt. Click the middle BUY button with the 150 coin price, not the rainbow one. Click outside the popup to close it. The axe goes into slot 2.
Backpack. Go to the Backpack stump next to the Sell Logs pad and press E to View it. Click the green BUY $175 button. Your bag goes from 5 to 15 logs. Close it with the red X.

Buy and spawn your first truck
- Walk onto the glowing yellow pad in the GARAGE. The vehicle menu opens.
- Use the green arrows to find the Rusty Runabout (Tier 1, 500 coins).
- Click the yellow BUY button (coins).
- Click the green SPAWN button. Buying a truck doesn't put it in the world. You have to spawn it.
- Click BACK to leave.

Fill and sell your first truckload
- Press E at the 'Rusty Runabout Drive' prompt. Drive with WASD and park next to the trees you plan to chop.
- Press 2 for the axe. Chop and pick up logs until your backpack is full.
- Aim at the truck bed and click CLICK LOAD TRUCK x/50. Your whole backpack goes in at once. Don't press E here, because E puts you in the driver's seat.
- Repeat until the LOGS counter is nearly full. The value under the counter shows what the load is worth. A full 50 is about $1,000.
- Press E at the Drive prompt and drive onto the DROP LOGS pad by the Timber Chomp.
- Click CLICK SELL ... FROM TRUCK and wait for 'Sold N logs from your truck!'.
- Collect the coins the chipper throws out, then press 2 to get your axe out again.

Quick fixes when you get stuck
- Clicks don't hurt the tree? Walk closer until the name and HP bar show.
- Can't pick up logs? Your backpack is full. Sell, or load the truck.
- Bought a truck but can't find it? Go back to the Garage and click SPAWN.
- Trees in the next area won't take damage? That zone is locked. Finish the current one first.
- Not sure what to do next? Read the quest tracker at the top left and follow the yellow line.

Frequently asked questions
Why didn't I get any logs when the tree fell in Chop A Forest?
A falling tree only drops log blocks on the ground. Aim at each block until 'CLICK / E PICK UP' shows, then click or press E to put it in your backpack.
How much does a log sell for?
The SELL LOGS sign says $1 per log. A full Rusty Runabout load of 50 logs comes to about $1,000. Remember to collect the coins the Timber Chomp chipper throws out.
What is the Trial Saw on key 3?
It's a 5-minute saw that costs 25 Robux, so pressing 3 opens a Robux prompt. Close it with the X and use the axe on key 2.
I bought a truck, so where is it?
Buying it doesn't spawn it. Go back to the yellow pad in the Garage, pick the truck and click the green SPAWN button.
How do I load logs into the truck?
Aim at the truck bed and click when 'CLICK LOAD TRUCK' shows, and your whole backpack goes in. Pressing E near the truck puts you in the driver's seat instead.
What should I buy first in Chop A Forest?
Buy Hold first, then the Axe (150), the Backpack ($175) and the Rusty Runabout (500). After that, get the Farmhand Pickup (2,800), the $750 Backpack and the Timber Flatbed (6,500).
